Molly Barker doesn’t understand slowing down.
She formed and nurtured one national nonprofit, Girls on the Run, which has touched the lives of over 1 million girls.
She retired from that organization a few years ago, but now finds herself leading another nonprofit she founded that challenges the world to do one thing: LISTEN.
Barker got the idea for The Red Boot Coalition on a soul-searching solo cross-country trip after a frustrating couple of years in our nation’s capital working to engage our leaders in a dialogue that might bring more love and compassion to Washington, D.C. Wearing the red boots her daughter had given her for her 50th birthday, Barker traveled from Charlotte to Las Vegas and back, listening to average folks everywhere she stopped.
She came away from that trip with a greater appreciation of the value of listening and the need of people to be heard. And the Red Boot Coalition was born. The organization believes listening is the key to understanding. Through community meetings nationwide, the nonprofit educates about the power of listening without opinion.
Barker, an avid runner and four-time Hawaii Ironman triathlete will introduce us to Red Boot and lead us through a Red Boot meeting.
This event is open to EO members, Accelerators, Partners, spouses and young girls.
